Burnout and recovery with MER Biofeedback® therapy

Toomas (35)

I was a senior executive at a large company. Although the company was growing and successful, I experienced burnout. For years, I worked overtime, unable to disconnect from work even during holidays. I constantly read emails and answered phone calls, which eventually led to burnout.

Things got so bad that I didn’t want to go to work, avoided calls from the company’s director and shareholders, and stopped engaging in discussions with colleagues. I spent weekends lying in bed under the covers. I became so fed up with work and responsibility that I started fantasising about moving to the other side of the world where no one knew or called me. I imagined working as a shop assistant in a small store with no overtime. I thought I would regain my peace, be happy, and start my life anew.

Burnout had stolen my joy for life.

On the advice of friends, I turned to MER Biofeedback® therapy. I was sceptical and had lost faith in everything. The therapist explained that the device would clear my „memory stick“, removing my obsessive thoughts and making space for new supportive thoughts.

Immediately after the session, my mind was free from incessant work thoughts. I felt a sense of peace and lightness.

It was as if my feet were floating. I realised that everything the therapist said about me through the device was accurate, even though they had never seen me before, and I hadn’t shared much about myself. I found myself nodding in agreement. The therapist added that the therapy relaxes muscles and the nervous system. That’s exactly what happened. I went home and slept for 12 hours straight.

In the morning, I discovered that my mind was no longer racing with thoughts as it used to. Previously, I constantly worried about whether I could complete all my tasks or what would happen if I couldn’t. It felt strange but also gave me hope that I had broken out of my usual cycle.

I was happy that something in my life had finally helped me!

I couldn’t meditate or calm down before because my mind was always racing with thoughts. When I returned to work, I realised I no longer wanted the kind of life I had before, where my life was solely about work, with no personal life, joy, or enjoyment. The result had been burnout. Admitting this to myself was a surprise because I hadn’t dared to think about it before.

About a week later, I handed in my resignation, adding that I wouldn’t stay even if they tripled my salary! I remembered that during my first therapy session, my fear of change had been neutralised. That must have been where my courage came from. I felt I wanted to start focusing on myself and began my new life.

In the next session, my hidden anger and unforgiveness were neutralised. In the third session, the focus was on love, self-love, self-esteem, and inner joy. It’s been five months since then, and I’m no longer the same person I was before the therapy.

My mother was amazed by my changed behaviour. She said her son was back to how he was during his university days. My happiness and sense of humour had returned. I found hobbies I enjoyed and could appreciate and find joy in small things. I recommend MER Biofeedback® therapy to anyone who has lost themselves, experienced burnout, or suffered from chronic fatigue, stress, and depression.
